John Nunes

Certified Photographer, Photography Class Instructor & Owner of John Nunes Photography.

A 3rd generation Petaluma native John is a certified nationally speaking award-winning photographer, who started photographing in 1989. Over the last 27 years John’s visions and talents have enabled him to expand his business to what it is today. He now has a 2,500 square foot state of the state of the art studio, located in the town of Petaluma, where the beautiful vineyards and blue oceans surround us.

Turning a Hobby into a Profession…

As with many professional photographers, John’s love of photography started out at a young age while working in his fathers darkroom. John became the first yearbook photographer for Petaluma Junior High School. He took his first photography class in high school while attending Petaluma High School. It was 1984 and John was a freshman.  He was soon referred to as the “photo guy” throughout school and worked on the both the yearbook and newspaper staffs.

On the Personal Side…

In addition to photography, John loves the outdoors. He loves to do camping, hiking, boating, teach, travel, cooking and spend quality time with his wife Alisa and daughter Christina. John, Alisa and Christina are a Disney family, so you can find them down at Disney quite often.

It’s John’s passion to celebrate and portray the uniqueness of every person that he photographs, to reveal the heart and soul of a child, or the love,closeness and relationship of a family in a way that no one else can.  John cares about his work with a true artist’s passion. His trademark portraits with their unique blend of dramatic artistry and meticulously hand crafted finishes are created to be pieces of art.

All in all, John has a passion for people and teaching the art of photography! We are excited to have you join him and take a class from John Nunes Photo Workshops!
